Detailed description of The Lincoln Hills Club
The Lincoln Hills Club, is a Public, 36 hole golf course located facility located in Lincoln, California.
The Lincoln Hills Golf Club first opened for play 1999 as an 18-hole, Billy Casper and Greg Nash-designed golf course.
In 2004, another nine holes were built, with the last nine completed in the summer of 2005. The final two nines, designed by Greg Nash, are incorporated into the original course thereby creating two 18-hole layouts (The Hills and The Orchard Courses) with traditional out-and-back configurations.
Both course's have wide open fairways. The course rests among the rolling hills and natural wetlands common to this part of Placer County, California. Manicured fairways are framed by daunting hazards and pockets of pine, oak and redwood trees that add to the golf course's aesthetic appeal as well as to the risk/reward challenges.
The Orchard Course is best defined by its long and challenging par 4's. However, its the short par-4 sixth hole that allows the most birdies. A variety of waterfowl such as Egrets, Herons and Canadian Geese have chosen to roost in a large oak situated behind the green.
The Hills Course, challenges golfers with an assortment of golf holes ranging from risk/reward par 5s to bombs-away par 4s, but it's arguably the par 3s that reflect the character of this 6,853-yard track. For example, the par-3 12th plays downhill with wetlands to the right and behind the green. The hole is as picturesque as it is challenging, and like many of the holes on The Hills course, close scrutiny to the day's pin sheet as well as sound course management are required to score.

Lincoln hills has two courses. The hills and the Orchard course. Both courses have good lay outs. The fairways are mostly in good condition. A lot of the bunkers and traps need sand in them. Quite a few of the tee boxes need new grass on them. Greens roll good and true, They have a lot ball marks toward the front of most of the greens. I try to fix at least 5 ball marks when I can.

This was a last minute decision, so we weren't able to scrounge up a coupon and had to pay full price ... $69. Normally, there is a coupon that makes this a much better value at $45. We mentioned being aware of the coupon, but "Mack" in the pro shop wasn't budging. He isn't a very friendly person as we've seen him in apparent bad moods more than once. Needless to say, we just wanted to enjoy a morning of golf, which we did. The course was in very good condition and the pace of play was pretty good for a Sat morning, although we never saw an on course marshal.

Good courses that get beat up by players. NO ONE repairs ball marks or divots and chew up tees without repairing huge divots. Pace of play is bad from people hopping all around (course to course and hole to hole) with no marshals to prevent. Groups show up out of nowhere slowing play particularly on back 9's. Houses are WAY too close to fairway prompting signs saying "Irons Only on Tee Shots" for a 300+ yd par 4. These could be great courses if someone cared enough to make experience better by controlling on-course antics.

Poor pace is frequently experienced on back nines of both courses. Good course conditions but plagued with golfers who do not repair their divots or ball marks. Need a starter to control 1st tee better and a marshall who will actually do something other than wave to you while you are backed up 2 groups deep on a tee.

On the day I played, there were diseases evident in fairways. Greens are fine, but slow.
The fringe area around greens was poor.

A great coupon has been running for the Orchard course...$35 w/cart M-F. Played twice in May and the pace was a bit slow the second time around. We didn't see a marshal the whole round. Restaurant closes from 10:30 - 11:30, so beware if starting an early round and looking for some lunch afterwards. We went to off-site restaurants on both visits because our 6:48 start time put the end of our round just after the 10:30 cutoff. Course was in very good condition.

The Hills Course is a little more forgiving than the Orchard course but both are enjoyable and in great shape. Stay out of the spring ruff

I'm not that good, so I tend to see courses from a lot of strange angles sometimes. This course was challenging not just to me, but to the low 10s and high single digit guys I was playing with, and yet it was still fun for someone like me.

Both the Hills and the Orchard courses are being let go for any maintenance. Weeds every where in traps and bunkers which are never raked and the content is like hitting off concrete. Carts are getting dated and little repairs are being neglected. Ball washers seldom have water or soap in them. No player assistants are used hence the 5 to 6 hour rounds. Golf shop staff attempts to do what they can but their hands seem to be tied by the management company. Looks like Casper Golf is just riding this one down until someone/ group comes in and offers to take over. If your looking for a weekday Rat trap to play for cheap after 12 PM and kill 5 hours plus, these are the courses for you.
